Coach Kanoute is the coach of the soccer team associated with George’s sports ministry. He is 28 years old. His living space is very small and he has a hard time putting food on the table.

He dropped out of primary school when he was 16 years old because his parents could not pay his tuition. His family lived in a village far from the city. He started taking care of the families’ cow. His friends convinced him to run to the city to try and find a better life. The same guy that convinced him to leave the village gave him a job as both a chef and waiter. After making some money he decided to start his own business selling shoes. He began coming to George’s sports ministry as a player. This is where George found him. He could barely eat off of that business. George asked him what he would love to do with his live. He answered with simply being wanting to attend vocational school to become a mechanic. George helped him attend this school, and also gave him the opportunity to start coaching. I was also supported in getting my license to drive. After finishing his studies he couldn’t get a job in that field. He was able to coach.

He continues to do this every day with two teams, one with children 15 and younger and one with 17 and younger. He loves his job. He leads the kids in devotionals after every practice and match. He tries to show gods love to the kids who may not have much love shown to them otherwise. He doesn’t know what the future holds because he doesn’t have an income from his coaching. It is hard for him to make rent and be able to eat every month. He would love to continue coaching but needs support to be able to be a positive influence on the kids.
